| Sample knit with Patons Lace Yarn on US Size 4 needles |
I found this stitch in an old, old book (and conveniently forgot to write down the name of the book, sorry). It looks a lot like a pattern I have seen elsewhere, called Little Flowers, or Lace Flowers... I made a half hearted attempt to search my new stitch books for this, but couldn't find anything. I am pretty sure I have seen this before under a different name though.
At any rate, this is a beautiful stitch that would make a great summer scarf or shawl, even a shrug. You could use any yarn of course, but I think it looks best in a lace weight animal fiber yarn so the item can be properly blocked to open up the stitch to its full potential.
The pattern did not indicate any edge stitches, but I definitely recommend a border of some sort, or at least 2 extra stitches on each edge to neaten things up, depending on what you use the stitch for.
