Crochet-Knit Mesh

Sample knit with fingering weight yarn on US size 4 needles

This stitch creates a fabric that spreads a good bit.  A loose/stretchy cast on and bind off is recommended so the edges will stretch with the fabric when blocking.

Work on an even number of stitches

*k2, (yo, pass first st on right needle over yo) 4 times

Repeat for pattern.

Fascine Braid

Sample knit with worsted weight yarn on US size 8 needles

Multiple of 8 + 4

Rows 1 and 3 (WS): k4 *p4, k4
Row 2: p4 *(sl 1 wyib, k1, yo, pass slipped st over the knit st and yo) twice, p4
Row 4: p4 *k1, sl 1 wyib, k1, yo, pass slipped st over the knit st and yo, k1, p4

Repeat these four rows for the pattern.  The edges curl so you may want to add a border like garter or seed stitch.
