Multiple of 2 + 1

Row 1 (ws): k2 *p1, k1; rep from *, end k1

Row 2: k1* knit into the stitch of the row below next stitch, k1; rep from *

Row 3: k1 *p1, k1; rep from *

Row 4: k2 *knit into the stitch of the row below next stitch, k1; rep from *, end k1

Repeat these four rows for the pattern.

Multiple of 8 stitches

Row 1: (RS) *P1, K3*

Row 2: *K1, P5, K1, P1*

Row 4: *P2, K1, P1, K1, P3*

Repeat these four rows for the pattern.
