This stitch makes a subtle texture on stocking stitch.  You may want to consider a border all around to help the fabric lay flat, depending on how you plan to use the stitch.

And yes, I made a mistake in the video.  On the last row near the end, I forgot to slip the new stitch to the left needle to knit it again - sorry!

Multiple of 4 + 1

Rows 1 and 3 (WS): purl

Row 2: k1 *knit into next stitch in the row below, but don't drop original stitch from needle; slip new stitch back to left needle and knit it again, knit original stitch, then pass the new stitch over the stitch just knit, k3

Row 4: k3 *knit into next stitch in the row below, but don't drop original stitch from needle; slip new stitch back to left needle and knit it again, knit original stitch, then pass the new stitch over the stitch just knit, k3; repeat from *, end k1

Tent Stitch

Sample knit on DK weight yarn, US size 6 addi needles

Multiple of 8 + 1

Rows 1 and 3 (WS):  k2 *p5, k3; end p5, k2
Row 2: k2 *sl 5 wyif, k3; end sl 5 wyif, k2
Row 4: k4 *insert right needle under running strand and knit next st, pulling st out under running strand, k7; end k4

Repeat these four rows for the pattern.

Multiple of 6 + 2

Use two needles, one four sizes larger than the other.

Use the larger needle to cast on

Row 1: (WS) with larger needle, knit
Row 2: with smaller needle - k1 *(skip 3 sts, p fourth st and pull it over 3 skipped sts) 3 times, p the 3 skipped sts; rep from *, end k1

Repeat these two rows for the pattern.  Cast on and bind off edges will be scalloped.

Ant Egg Stitch

Row 1 (RS): *k2, sl 2 wyif

Row 2: *p2, k2

Twisted Ladder Stitch

This stitch comes from one of several Japanese stitch dictionaries I have.  If you are an adventurous knitter or crocheter, I highly recommend getting at least one Japanese stitch dictionary; you may find some familiar stitches, but the majority are not to be found in the stitch dictionaries you may already have, like Vogue or the Walker Treasuries.   All of the Japanese books are charted, and the symbols are standardized.  Each book has illustrations showing how each of the stitches are worked.   If you Google Japanese knitting or Japanese knitting stitches, etc. you will find some blogs and videos to help you along.

Most of the Japanese stitches are lengthy, however this one is just two rows.  You will also be dealing with double yarn overs here.  In Row 1, make a double yarn over; on Row 2, you will purl the first loop, slip it from the needle, then knit through the back leg of the second loop and slip it from the needle.  Not hard, but may take a bit of practice.  You may find a pointy needle helpful in getting through the back loop of the second yarn over.

Row 1: *skpo, yo(2), k2tog
Row 2: *p1, p first loop of double yo, kbl of second loop of double yo, p
