Rosary Stitch

Rows 5 and 7: k2tog *k2, yo, k1, yo, k2, sk2p - repeat from *, end skpo

Single Lace Rib

Multiple of 4 + 1

Row 1: k1 *yo, k2tog, p1, k1

Row 2: p1 *yo, p2tog, k1, p1

Threaded Ribbon Stitch

This is a great "mindless knitting" stitch, good for TV watching.  Not much to think about, and if you make a mistake, it is easy to spot and fix.

One thing I noticed about this stitch is that it has a bit of a wave to it.  Blocking should help flatten it out some, or you could let the fabric go as is if it doesn't bother you.

Multiple of 6 + 1

Row 1: K1 *P5, K1*

Row 2: P1 *K5, P1*

Repeat Rows 1-2 twice more

Row 7: P1 *K5, P1*

Row 8: K1 *P5, K1*

Repeat Rows 7-8 twice more

Repeat these 12 rows for the pattern

Single Eyelet Rib Stitch

It has been a while since I posted a rib stitch, and this one is easy and so pretty.

SSK = Slip, Slip, Knit - Instructions for this decrease usually tell you to slip both stitches knitwise.   I like to slip the first one knitwise, slip the second one purlwise and then knit them together.  You can do whichever one you feel most comfortable with.  You will get the same result, but for me slipping the second stitch purlwise makes it a little neater.

Cast on a multiple of 5 + 2

Row 1 and all Wrong Side Rows: K2 *P3, K2*
Row 2 : P2 *K3, P2*
Row 4: P2 *K2tog, YO, K1, P2*
Row 6: P2 *K3, P2*
Row 8: P2 *K1, YO, SSK, P2*

Repeat these 8 Rows for the pattern.

Lorne Pattern - Vintage Stitch Series

Sample knit with Caron Simply Soft on US size 7 needles

This is the next stitch in the Vintage Series that I love.  This one comes from The Lady's Knitting Book, Second Series published in 1881 by E. M. C.   

The pattern calls for "plus 2" stitches - one to be knit on each edge.  If using this stitch alone in your pattern, I would add a few more to make a wider border, because the edges look a little sloppy to me.  If you are a tight knitter, try to loosen up a bit, or use a larger needle so the 'knit 3 together' will be a bit easier on you.

Cast on a multiple of 5 stitches plus 2

Row 1: K1, *K2, YO, K3tog, YO*, repeat from * to end, Knit last stitch

Row 2: K1, *P3, K2*, repeat from * to end, Knit last stitch

Row 3: K1, *P2, K3*, repeat from * to end, Knit last stitch

Repeat these three rows for pattern.
