Little Herringbone Stitch

Sample knit with Caron Simply Soft on US Size 6 needles

This is similar to the Herringbone Stitch video I did in 2011.  This makes a nice thick, dense fabric.   Practice makes perfect with this stitch.  It isn't hard, but may take a few tries to get comfortable with.

All slipped stitches are slipped purlwise

Yarn is to be held in the back of the work when slipping (wyib)

Worked on an odd number of stitches

Row 1: (WS) *P2tog, leaving sts on left needle.  Purl first stitch again, then drop both stitches from left needle* end P1

Row 2: *Slip next stitch wyib, K1.  With left needle, lift the slipped stitch as if to pass the slipped stitch over, but knit it before dropping it from the needle* end K1

Little Shell Stitch

Sample knit with DAZZLE Sock/Sport 100% British Blue Faced Leicester on US Size 4 needles

First let me say that this  yarn is fabulous!  I have 5 skeins of this, and it is going to be used for something special!  This was my first experience with Blue Faced Leicester - I highly recommend it!  It is so soft, so smooshy, and very easy to work with. 

Moving on, this is a delicate, lovely little stitch that is super simple to knit.  The only thing you may pause over is the purl 3 together in the third row.  Don't worry - you can do it!  If you are a tight knitter, work Row 2 a tad loose if you can.  Or, gently wiggle your needle after you have inserted it into the 3 stitches to loosen them up a bit to help you purl them together.  

Cast on a multiple of 7 + 2

Row 1: Knit

Row 2: Purl

Row 3: K2 *YO, P1, P3tog, P1, YO, K2*

Row 4: Purl

Repeat these four rows for the pattern.

Little Plait Cable

Sample knit with Lighthouse Waves on US 10-1/2 needles

This is a super simple, super quick cable stitch.  It's also easy to remember, because it is only four rows!

Panel of 10 stitches

Rows 1 and 3: (WS) K2, P6, K2

Row 2: P2, Sl 2 to cable or DPN and hold in front, K2 from left needle, K2 from cable or DPN, K2, P2

Row 4: P2, K2, Sl 2 to cable or DPN and hold in back, K2 from left needle, K2 from cable or DPN, P2

Repeat these four rows for pattern.

Little Arrowhead Lace

Sample knit with Patons Angora Bamboo on US  8 needles

The edges of this stitch are really sloppy.  You will probably want to add some extra stitches to neaten up the edges of your fabric.  I would also recommend blocking your finished item to open up the stitch pattern.

Pattern Note:

On Row 4, Slip the next two stitches together as if to knit, then you will Knit 1, and then pass the two slipped stitches together over the knit stitch 

Cast on a multiple of 6 + 1

Rows 1 and 3: Purl all stitches

Row 2: K1 *YO, SSK, K1, K2tog, YO, K1*

Row 4: K2 *YO, Sl2 Kwise, K1, P2SSO, YO, K3* End last repeat with K2

Repeat these four rows for the pattern.
