Two Color Granite Stitch

Sample knit with worsted weight yarn on US Size 6 needles
I do not like colorwork, and rarely do it, except for the occasional stitch video.  This is a pretty stitch, and easy even for me.  You don't have to worry about carrying the color not in use, because it is picked up again on the return row of the color in use.  Does that make sense? :0)

yfwd = bring the yarn to the front of the work
ybk = take yarn to the back of the work
Sl = slip (as if to purl)

Multiple of 2 +1

Cast on using A

Row 1 (RS): Using A - Knit
Row 2: Using B - *K1, Sl 1*, end with K1
Row 3: Using B - *K1, yfwd, Sl 1, ybk*, end with K1
Rows 4 and 5: Using A - Knit
Row 6: Using B - K1 *K1, Sl 1*, end K2
Row 7: Using B - K2 *yfwd, Sl 1, ybk, K1*, end K1
Row 8: Using A - Knit

Repeat these eight rows for the pattern.

Here is the video.  Happy Knitting and Enjoy!

I love this pattern! so if I wanted to make a scarf from it how many would I need to CO? your written pattern didn't say but your video said 13... Im a little more then a beginner knitter so trying to learn still...

You will need to knit a gauge swatch with the yarn and needles you plan to use for your scarf. This stitch pattern needs a multiple of two plus one extra stitch. The sample I knit in the video was just for a small swatch. Unless you want a super duper skinny scarf you will want to use a lot more stitches. I have a video on gauge if you need help with that. That will just tell you how many stitches you get to the inch. This will vary not only between individual knitters, but with different weights and needle sizes.

I am making a small bag for my friend's cell phone. I asked her what colors she wanted and she chose red and black. I didn't know if I could do this stitch or not, so imagine my surprise when it came out so beautifully. She just loves it and I'm amazed that I could do it.

If I wanted to work this in the round for a cowl, can you tell me how to adjust it?

Thanks so much!

How can I do this stitch using magic loop needles?

I am afraid I can't offer much help. I never knit using magic loop, and I stay far away from color work projects. I wasn't able to find much on doing color work in magic loop except this, not sure if it will be helpful to you or not:

Can you make this into a stripe blanket? Change colors every 8 rows?
