Stripes and Bars


Sample knit with fingering weight yarn on US size 6 needles

This stitch looks great on both sides, perfect for a scarf or other project where the back will be seen. It also lays flat, but the edges are sloppy so you may want to add a border depending on how you use the stitch. 

Multiple of 3 + 2

Row 1 (RS): p2 *sl 1 wyib, p2
Row 2: k2 * sl 1 wyif, k2
Row 3: knit
Row 4: purl

Repeat these four rows for the pattern.

Easy Lace

Sample knit with Silky Alpaca Sport (Ocean Cliff) on US Size 4 needles

Multiple of 3 + 2

Row 1 (RS): k2 *yo, k2tog, k1
Row 2: p2 *k1, p2
Row 3: k2 * k2tog, yo, k1
Row 4: p1 *k1, p2; repeat from *, end k1, p3

Repeat these four rows for the pattern.

Texture Stitch

Sample knit with DK weight yarn on US Size 7 needles

Multiple of 2

Row 1 (ws): purl
Row 2: k1 *p2, wyif slip the two sts back to left needle, then take the yarn across the front of the two sts to back of work and slip sts back to right needle; rep from * to last stitch, k1

Repeat these two rows for the pattern.

Eye of Partridge Stitch

Sample knit with DK weight yarn on US 7 needles
Cast on a multiple of 2

Row 1: k1, sl 1 pwise
Rows 2 and 4: purl
Row 3: sl 1 pwise, k1

Repeat these four rows for pattern.

This fabric does not lay flat and has sloppy edges; depending on how you use the stitch, you may want to add a border to neaten things up.
