Old Shale Variation

Sample knit with fingering weight yarn on US size 5 needles

This varies from the first Old Shale pattern I posted a few years ago in that there are no purl bumps on the front of the fabric, it is nice and smooth.  The stitch count is less also.

Multiple of 12

Row 1: knit
Row 2: purl
Row 3: (k2tog)2, (yo, k1)4, (k2tog)2
Row 4: purl

Repeat these four rows for the pattern.

The edges do curl, so you may want to consider adding a border to take the curl, depending on how you plan to use the stitch.

Happy Knitting!
