Lacy Heart

This sample was knit with Butterfly Cotton  on US 7 needles.   The sample I work on in the video is Cascade 220, same needles.   I had to switch yarn because the cotton somehow was hopelessly tangled inside the ball and I didn't feel like fighting with it to untangle the whole mess.

This cute lacy heart would be nice on a Valentine's Day project.  It is actually very easy to knit, and the pattern is completed quickly.  You can set up the motifs any way you like - on top of each other as in the picture above (think scarf) or repeat the pattern lengthwise.

This is worked on a reverse stockinette background, so the fabric is going to curl.   For my sample, I added six extra stitches - three at the beginning and three at the end of the row - for a plain garter stitch border to help keep it flat.

SKPO = Slip next stitch as if to knit, knit 1, pass the slipped stitch over the knit stitch
S2KPO = Slip next two stitches together knitwise, knit 1, pass both slipped stitches over the knit stitch

This is worked on 17 stitches
