Row 1 (worked only once) *p 4, k4, wrapping yarn 3 times; end p4

Row 4: k4 *slip next 4 sts wyif, k4

Row 5: *p4, k4, wrapping yarn 3 times; end p4

Repeat from Row 2

Long Slip Stitch

Sample knit with Silky Merino Heavy Worsted on US 7 needles

I recommend adding at least two extra stitches - one for each side - just to neaten things up a bit.  A seed stitch or garter stitch border would also look nice.

Multiple of 2

Row 1: *K1 wrapping yarn twice around needle, k1
Row 2: *K1, slip 1 wyif, dropping extra loops
Row 3: *Slip 1, k1
Row 4: *K1, slip 1 wyif
Row 5: *K1, k1 wrapping yarn twice around needle
Row 6: *Slip 1 wyif, dropping extra loops, k1
Row 7: *K1, slip 1
Row 8: *Slip 1 wyif, k1

Repeat these 8 rows for pattern.

Peruvian Lace

Sample knit with worsted weight yarn on US 7 needles

This stitch looks great in any weight or fiber, but I think it would look absolutely fabulous in a slinky, drapey fiber like tencel for a summer stole!  Soybean or silk yarn would also be nice for a summer project.

Depending on how you use this stitch, you may want to add some stitches to the sides to neaten things up.  This would make a great scarf, or border on the bottom of a sweater.  So many possibilities!

Multiple of 4 + 2

Rows 1 and 2: knit

Row 3: k1 *knit, wrapping yarn 3 times before dropping from left needle; repeat from * to last stitch, k1

Row 4: k1 *sl 4, dropping extra wraps; slip these 4 long stitches back to left needle and k1, p1, k1, p1 into all 4 together before dropping from left needle; repeat from * to last stitch, k1

Rows 5, 6, 7, 8: knit

Row 9: knit all stitches, wrapping yarn 3 times before dropping from left needle

Row 10: knit all stitches, dropping extra wraps

Repeat these 10 rows for the pattern.

Drop Stitch

Sample knit on US Size 10 needles with Sapphires-n-Purls Targhee Bulky in Mango Tango

Multiple of 3 + 2

Rows 1, 3 and 5 (WS): k2 *p1, k2; rep from *

Rows 2 and 4: p2 *k1, p2; rep from *

Row 6: p2 *drop next st off needle, unravel it 4 rows down; then insert right needle from front into the 5th stitch down, under the 4 loose strands, and knit, drawing stitch up and catching loose strands behind it, p2; rep from *

Repeat these six rows for pattern.
